Dawn Chiang and I are lighting a new full length “Sleeping Beauty” to open at the Metropolitan Opera House on June 1st.
Last week we ‘tech’d’ at Suny Purchase and used Virtual Magic Sheet, the brilliant software developed by Eric Cornwell of West Side Systems. This is literally what it says it is. But it’s a LIVE magic sheet — in full color laid out as you wish. As your lighting changes so too does the magic sheet. Each channel shows the level and its last movement. Color scrollers change live and moving lights indicate direction and focus point. This allows very fast action. The link between your eyes on stage and the VDU provides almost instant access. Amazing! This is my third use of the software, but this is the largest installation with over four thousand potential DMX addresses. More soon.
