Tony Walton and I attend the 63rd Annual Convention—the largest theatre festival in the USA. 4,000 enthusiastic students all passionate about theatre and the future. An inspiring combination. Tony and I, with costume designer Jennifer Caprio, adjudicated the annual scenic, costume, sound and lighting design/technical competitions. An astonishingly high standard throughout.
Tony and I also give a joint Keynote Address and are awarded the 2012 Distinguished Career Awards . . . a great honor. Previous awardees include Eugene Lee, William Ivey Long, Edward Albee, Tharon Musser, Stephen Schwartz, Julie Harris, Charles Strouse, Zoe Caldwell, Lloyd Richards, Zelda Fichandler, Jose Ferrer, Josh Logan, Lilian Hellman, Samuel Selden and Tennessee Williams, to name but a few! Wow!
